The Gardens by the Bay light show that runs every night is Garden Rhapsody, a free show at Supertree Grove at 7.45pm and 8.45pm. On Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays a second free show, Borealis, runs from 8.00pm to 8.30pm and is cancelled if it rains. Together they make a no-ticket evening, and this guide sets out the dates from 17 October to 30 November 2026.
Both pages list free admission and add that admission charges to Supertree Grove may apply for ticketed events such as Christmas Wonderland. None of the pages read on 17 October 2026 gives 2026 dates for it, so check the Gardens’ alert banner on the day.
Haze is the other check this month. NEA’s haze update of 16 October 2026 forecast a 24-hour PSI of 150 to 230 (Unhealthy to Very Unhealthy) for 17 October, and for that forecast it advised healthy people to avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor exertion, the elderly, pregnant women and children to minimise outdoor activity, and people with chronic lung or heart disease to avoid it. Both shows are outdoors at Supertree Grove and the Gardens’ pages we read say nothing about haze, so read NEA’s newest update before you set off.
At a glance
- Garden Rhapsody: daily at 7.45pm and 8.45pm, Supertree Grove, free admission. Opera in the Gardens runs 1–31 October, Garden Waltz 1–28 November and The Christmas Special from 29 November (the Gardens marks its dates as subject to change).
- Borealis: every Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 8.00pm to 8.30pm, Supertree Grove, free admission, cancelled in the event of rain during show times. The page lists schedule changes only on 2 August and 12–27 September.
- Sunflower Surprise: Garden by the Ocean: Friday 9 October to Monday 9 November 2026, 9am to 9pm, in the Flower Dome; an admission charge to Flower Dome applies. The Flower Dome’s next maintenance closure is Monday 16 November, after the display ends.
- Getting there: Bayfront MRT (CE1/DT16, Exit B) or Gardens by the Bay MRT (TE22, Exit 1), per the Gardens’ getting-here page.
- Free alternative at Esplanade: Popaholic runs 1–30 October 2026; the listing shows all 29 programmes as Free, 19 of them from 17 October onwards.
- Haze: NEA forecast an Unhealthy to Very Unhealthy 24-hour PSI (150 to 230) for 17 October 2026; check its latest update on the day.
How do Borealis and Garden Rhapsody fit into one evening?
On a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, start with Borealis at 8.00pm. It finishes at 8.30pm, which leaves 15 minutes before the 8.45pm Garden Rhapsody. That order is our inference from the listed times. The other way round is riskier: the Garden Rhapsody page does not say how long a show lasts, and Borealis starts only 15 minutes after the 7.45pm show.
On Tuesdays to Fridays only Garden Rhapsody is listed. Borealis recreates the Northern Lights with layers of light and cloud particles, according to its page, and is cancelled if it rains during show times. The Garden Rhapsody page states no rain policy, so check the alerts before you set off; our haze and rain Plan B guide has a message for agreeing a swap.
Which nights can a group choose from?
There is no verified way to say which night is quieter, so choose by schedule. The Ministry of Manpower’s list shows Deepavali on Sunday 8 November as the next public holiday and says Monday 9 November 2026 will be a public holiday “if your rest day falls on 8 November 2026”. Each Saturday-to-Monday run is below, with the Garden Rhapsody theme.
- Sat 17, Sun 18, Mon 19 October: Borealis 8pm; Opera in the Gardens.
- Sat 24, Sun 25, Mon 26 October: Borealis 8pm; Opera in the Gardens.
- Sat 31 October, Sun 1, Mon 2 November: Borealis 8pm; Opera in the Gardens on 31 October, then Garden Waltz from 1 November.
- Sat 7, Sun 8, Mon 9 November: Borealis 8pm; Garden Waltz. Sunday is Deepavali and, per MOM, Monday is a public holiday only “if your rest day falls on 8 November 2026”, so check plans with the group early; our public holidays page lists the dates, our Deepavali open-house hosting plan covers that weekend at home and our Little India visit guide covers going out.
- Sat 14, Sun 15, Mon 16 November: Borealis 8pm; Garden Waltz.
- Sat 21, Sun 22, Mon 23 November: Borealis 8pm; Garden Waltz.
- Sat 28, Sun 29, Mon 30 November: Borealis 8pm; Garden Waltz on 28 November, then The Christmas Special from 29 November.
These dates follow the weekly pattern on the Borealis page, which showed no exceptions after 27 September on 17 October 2026, so recheck on the day. Our guide to the 2026 year-end programme tracks what is confirmed from 29 November.
Is it worth adding a paid exhibit like Sunflower Surprise?
Add one if the group wants something to do before dusk, and skip it if the aim is a free night: for the group below, the Flower Dome alone adds S$56. Sunflower Surprise is a Portuguese-themed floral display with more than 5,000 sunflowers, open 9am to 9pm in the Flower Dome from Friday 9 October to Monday 9 November 2026. Its page lists no separate exhibit price and says only that an admission charge to Flower Dome applies.
On 17 October 2026 the Singapore Resident tab of the Flower Dome page listed these prices. Resident rates apply to Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and people living in Singapore, including Employment Pass, Work Permit and Dependent Pass holders, and proof of residency may be required.
- Flower Dome only: adult S$12, senior (60 and above) S$8, child (3–12) S$8.
- Flower Dome and Cloud Forest: adult S$34, senior S$29, child S$26.
- Three-attraction bundle (Flower Dome, Jurassic World at Cloud Forest, Disney Garden of Wonder at Floral Fantasy, plus a shuttle service): adult S$42, senior S$34, child S$32.
The Non-Resident tab has no Flower Dome-only ticket and no senior rate: Flower Dome and Cloud Forest is S$46 for an adult and S$32 for a child, and the bundle is S$58 and S$41. Prices include GST. Each bundle price sits beside a higher, struck-through figure that the page does not explain; the bundle promotion page gives the period “Till 14 Mar 2027”.
Illustrative arithmetic, our example and not a booking: six Singapore residents, two adults, two seniors and two children. It is the same group as in our ticket price guide, which compares the combinations.
- Flower Dome only: 2 × S$12 + 2 × S$8 + 2 × S$8 = S$24 + S$16 + S$16 = S$56.
- Flower Dome and Cloud Forest: 2 × S$34 + 2 × S$29 + 2 × S$26 = S$68 + S$58 + S$52 = S$178.
- Three-attraction bundle: 2 × S$42 + 2 × S$34 + 2 × S$32 = S$84 + S$68 + S$64 = S$216.
The bundle covers two more attractions, so it is not like-for-like with the Flower Dome alone. The Flower Dome page recommends about an hour there and the hours page gives last admission as 8.30pm; on our inference, a group that wants to finish before Borealis at 8.00pm should be inside by about 7.00pm.
Do card discounts or closure dates change the plan?
They might, so confirm at the counter. The Gardens’ homepage lists 10% off Flower Dome admission with a SAFRA, PAssion or OCBC card, each “Till 30 Apr 2027”, and the DBS/POSB page says “Till 31 Mar 2027”. But the terms on the SAFRA, PAssion, OCBC and DBS/POSB pages give purchase windows that ended on 30 April 2026 and 31 March 2026, and the pages do not explain the gap. The terms also limit each offer to on-site counters and eight resident tickets a transaction, and bar combining it with other promotions. If a counter honoured one, the Flower Dome alone would cost this group S$50.40 (2 × S$10.80 + 4 × S$7.20).
The hours page lists each attraction as “Closed once a month for maintenance”. Its remaining dates for 2026: Flower Dome Monday 16 November (by our reading, after Sunflower Surprise ends on 9 November); Cloud Forest Monday 26 October and Tuesday 17 November; Floral Fantasy Tuesday 3 November and Tuesday 1 December. Our suggestion is to avoid those dates if your ticket includes that attraction. After Sunflower Surprise, the Flower Dome page lists the Gardens by the Bay Christmas Train Show there from 20 November 2026 to 3 January 2027; see our Christmas Train Show guide.
What if the group wants a free night at Esplanade instead?
Popaholic 2026 runs 1–30 October at Esplanade, and its listing shows all 29 programmes as Free, 19 of them on or after 17 October. Examples with dates include Pop My Music Cherry! on 17 October, The Rabbit Hole on 22 October and Nadya Zaheer on 30 October. The listing cards show dates but not venues or times, so open each event page before planning. Esplanade’s general advisory carries a haze advisory: if conditions reach unhealthy levels, “some outdoor performances may be cancelled”, and it points to Esplanade’s social channels for updates. Our Esplanade events reference covers where free Esplanade shows are held.
What to check before you go
- The Gardens’ alert banner and the Borealis page on the day: Borealis is cancelled in rain.
- NEA’s newest haze update and the 1-hour PM2.5 reading before you leave, if the haze is still about.
- Your show and time: 7.45pm or 8.45pm for Garden Rhapsody; 8.00pm for Borealis, Saturday to Monday.
- Your MRT exit and a meeting point if phones go flat. The getting-here page lists Bayfront (Exit B, then an underground linkway and a bridge) and Gardens by the Bay station (Exit 1); it does not say which is closer to Supertree Grove.
- If driving: the getting-here page lists car parking at S$0.035 a minute for cars, capped at S$30 a day.
- Any paid add-on: proof of residency (the Flower Dome page adds that a local bank card may be required), whether a card discount is honoured, and the closure dates above.
- The ride home: our group-plan guide has a message structure for a clear meeting point and end time.
More dated outings are in the Q4 2026 events calendar and the going-out topic.
