Homegrown and Well-known: a dated archive of SWS Youth at Esplanade

Singapore Wind Symphony Youth’s Homegrown and Well-known took place on Sunday, 4 October 2026 at Esplanade’s Concert Hall. This dated archive records the organiser’s programme and access notes; it is not a report from a performance attended.

Familiar music, a different set of instruments

The organiser described a mix of local works, pop and band favourites, including music associated with Metallica and Wicked. The performance was scheduled for 2pm and ran for one hour without an interval.

The programme offered a change of musical texture: material familiar through recordings or stage productions arranged for brass and woodwind. That description explains the invitation without pretending to assess arrangements we did not hear.

Free registration still had conditions

The event was free by registration for Esplanade&Me members. Members could register for up to two tickets per show, and every attendee needed a ticket, including infants. Children had to be accompanied by an adult.

The organiser described first-come, first-served booking and a returns path through the SISTIC confirmation email. Those were the conditions attached to the 4 October programme; they are retained here as useful archive information rather than a current booking instruction.

Access note

Esplanade marked the concert as a Relaxed Environment performance and provided a pre-event guide and Concert Hall wayfinding guide. Those documents remain useful references for understanding the access arrangement, while current programmes may have different details.

The organiser also advertised a separate paid pre-show tour: a 30-minute guided tour of the Concert Hall for S$15, with a S$5 Esplanade Mall voucher, booked by choosing Premier Box or Esplanade Box seats for the 2pm show. It was not automatically included in the free concert registration.

Archive notes

The 4 October programme gave the afternoon a clear one-hour anchor. A visitor planning around it would have needed to leave room for arrival, the Concert Hall route and the flexible meal or walk afterwards.
