Bio-IT World Asia 2013 will bring together life sciences, pharmaceutical, informatics and IT professionals from all over Asia and the rest of the world to one unique location. Focusing on improving human health with discoveries and advancements in information technology, the Bio-IT World Asia conference is going to showcase the innovative and disruptive technologies in the field of big data processing and analytics, genomics, molecular diagnostics and translational informatics that have a direct or indirect impact on improving the efficiency of clinical research, healthcare delivery and drug discovery.Some of the focused topic areas include data-intensive research collaboration, cancer research, Asian population specific biomarkers, companion diagnostic tests for personalized medicine, as well as other applications of NGS technology and targeted patient recruitment for clinical trials.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,We are proud to announce the Singapore Allergy & Rhinology Course 2013 which will be held in Singapore from 4 – 6 July 2013. The course is co-presented with the ASEAN Rhinology Society (AAOA) and the ASEAN Rhinology Society (ARS).This course follows the hugely successful three Allergy Courses that had been held since 2010. The past courses would not have been possible without the invaluable contribution and encouragement from our participants and friends. To our past faculties and participants, we extend our heartfelt gratitude.This course continues to place emphasis on both general allergy and rhinology topics that are commonly placed in both specialists’ and general practice settings. Allied healthcare givers like pharmacists and nurses who treat allergy patients will also benefit in attending the course. Rhinology topics which emphasise the increased areas of overlap in allergy and inflammatory conditions will be presented. As part of our effort to engage the primary care and junior ENT doctors, we have also planned sessions of panel discussion on common daily topics as well as giving sufficient Q & A time.Allergy is a multi-systemic disease, it can manifest in many areas of ENT practice. This course will not only revise salient basic concepts taught in the Basic Course but also have in-depth discussion on other allergy related topics including sleep disorders, food allergy, asthma, atopic dermatitis, and updates in immunotherapy. There will once again be hands-on practicum on skin prick testing (SPT) and asthma evaluation. Certificates of SPT practicum training will be given to participants. The latest Innovation and the future of allergy and sinusitis treatment will also be shared. Specifically, usage of antibiotics, antihistamines and surgical techniques will get further emphasis.This course aims to serve as the common forum for the exchange of ideas and allergy practice in our region. In our continued effort to encourage fellowship and academic participation, we have set up a special MCQ examination for trainees and fellows.
