Healing Garden Tour (A Guided Tour)

Spread over 2.5 hectares, Healing Garden is designed as a tranquil retreat with more than 400 species of medicinal plants traditionally used in South-East Asia as the main focus. Healing Garden is a reminder that plants are in fact chemical factories and serves as a plant bank where many species continue to thrive as their natural environments dwindle. Come and explore the Healing Garden, and you will find out more about traditional healing plants and their respective uses. 

 

Duration : 1.5 hours
Fee : $ 15.00 per person (Minimum 15 participants)

 

This programme is conducted on an ad hoc basis and is subject to the availability of guides. Four weeks advance booking is required for this programme.

Highlights at Jacob Ballas Children's Garden (An Introduction Talk)

Join us for a talk on Asia's first Children's Garden! Hear about plants of many colours, shapes and sizes, textures and feel in our Sensory Garden. Growing here are also plants for drinks, plants for dyes and plants that grow on other plants! Have fun at the fantastic forest which includes a tree house, a pond, a suspension bridge and a cave! Plenty to do and plenty to see in the Children's Garden!

 

Suitable for children in K1 - P6 levels

Duration  : 20 mins

Fee        : $150.00 for a group of 20 students (minimum) to 60 students (maximum)

Location  : Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden, Bukit Timah Core of the Singapore Botanic Gardens

The Fort Canning Spice Trail (June 2013)

Join us and discover the fascinating world of spices on the Fort Canning Spice Trail!

 

Follow our guides down the trail in the Spice Gardens which was once the site of Singapore's first botanical gardens.

The Spice Gardens boasts an extensive collection of plants - from spices, herbs, medicinal plants, economical plants to ornamental plants.

Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) and Clove (Syzygium aromaticum) trees, which were planted extensively in the first garden, can be found here as well.

Setting Up Your First Planted Tank

Planted tanks are a great way to enhance your home or office aesthetically. Regardless of size or design, they are sure to add a dash of colour and liven up your living and work space. This workshop will help participants to get started on their first planted tank and equip them with the basics of growing aquatic plants. It will cover the steps and necessary items required to set up a planted tank, and teach participants how to put them together. In addition, participants will be introduced to common aquarium plants and learn how to grow and take care of them. Participants who are interested in introducing fauna into the tanks can also discover what are some possible fauna that can be added.

 

Suitable for hobbyist and students in Secondary Level
