One of classical music's most gifted young violinists, the Korean-American superstar Sarah Chang, makes a return performance with the SSO to play Bruch's Concerto No. 1. Nielsen's Fifth Symphony is dominated by a sense of conflict, where a tense opening breaks out into a battle between a solo side drum and the orchestra, depicting a fight between good and evil.

The SSO’s Artist-in-Residence Cho Liang-Lin presents the much-anticipated Asian premiere of Tan Dun’s Violin Concerto, co-commissioned by the SSO and the Juilliard School of Music. Two popular works by Brahms feature in the programme: the light-hearted Academic Festival Overture – a compilation of student drinking songs – and the Haydn Variations, which incorporates the theme commonly known as the “St. Anthony Chorale”.

Qi-Gong Shibashi is a gentle, beautiful and flowing qigong exercise routine that is both a joy to do and deeply relaxing.
